APACHE FC FIRE EARNS SECOND WIN

Apache FC rolled on to its second win of the LA Municipal League over-30s season with a tight 1-0 win over Dinamo Lokamotiv Tuesday night at Griffith Park

A solid defence led by sweeper Ger McManus -- who was named MVP of the match -- kept Dinamo at bay for a majority of the match ... limiting them to just a few set plays over the 90.

The Warriors racked up numerous chances in both the first and second half -- with several shots turned away by the Dinamo keeper ... but the squad's lone tally didn't tweak the twine until five minutes before the final whistle sounded.

Still playing for the win, striker Mike Lewis was taken down outside the Dinamo box while making a run on goal with the ball. Midfielder Alex Martinez sent the ensuing free kick curing across the box, where a sprawling Matty McCallum converted it into the net.

"We never stopped playing until the end," Coach Billy Alarcon said following the match. "Dinamo appeared to be satisfied with a tie as the match wore on ... but we never gave up on the win."

Keeper Carlos Guerrero maintained Apache's first shutout after making an incredible diving save to tip the ball over the crossbar on Dinamo's final chance of the match off a corner kick.

The result gives Apache a clean six points over two matches. The squad next faces United Football Academy Tuesday, April 12 at Griffith Park with an 8:50 PM kickoff.
