Apache FC took out United Football Academy 3-0 in LA Municipal League over-30s action Tuesday night at Griffith Park to earn the squad's third straight win.
Striker Nick Midulla notched the first tally of the night off a header from a Mike Lewis cross barely 10 minutes in, his second goal of the early season. And Mike Barthel added a second goal about 15 minutes later with a cracking shot from outside the box which blew past the UFA keeper, leaving the match 2-0 at the half.
Solid defence and an attacking midfield generated numerous Apache chances and held UFA to just a couple shots on goal.
"The squad was passing well and looked calm for most of the match," Coach Billy Alarcon commented. "We now hope to work on some skills training in practice to convert more of our chances in the box."
Alarcon added while Apache FC has already demonstrated depth in its lineup, both starters and on the sidelines, the Warriors are only going to get stronger as the season progresses.
"All of our players are starter quality."
The second half started a bit messy in terms of ball control, with United trying to strike back with a goal of their own. But Lewis quashed any last minute spirit from the side, converting a pass from Midulla with Giggs-like precision to make it 3-0.
Keeper Carlos Guerrero was named MVP of the match for earning his second straight shutout.
The win leaves the Warriors in first place going into the Easter break, three points up on Santiagueno and Hollywood United. United knocked off Santiagueno 3-2, while Los Andes blasted Dinamo Lokamotiv 5-0 in other blue division match-ups.
The squad next faces Santiagueno Tuesday, April 26 at John Ferraro #7 with a 7 PM kickoff.

Another great win. We are so excited to start off 3-0 as a young squad. It was nice to win in the away blues as well. As we continue to play well, other teams will be gunning for us and we hope to be ready. We have a week off and will train at our practice facility next wednesday night. Very proud of what we are all building together.
