Warriors playoff hopes fall with 5-0 Hollywood United loss

It started well with Apache FC playing a passing game on the ground and generating several goal-scoring opportunities in the first 15 minutes in the squad's rematch with Hollywood United Tuesday night at Griffith Park.

But two set plays -- corner kicks and headers resulting in goals at 6' and 20'-- put Apache back on their heels. By halftime United was up 3-0.  The Warriors battled back in the second half but let in two more late goals despite some strong goaltending by keeper JC Salinaszelaya, who even saved a penalty kick in the dying stages of the match.

The squad put in a strong effort, but the goals just didn't come.  The Warriors play division leaders Martin Fierro next Tuesday at John Ferraro 7 with a 7 PM kickoff. Their earlier season match was a tight game, with MF narrowly taking the game 2-1.
